His professional practice is focused mainly on banking and corporate affairs and counseling multinational clients that do business in Ecuador. Admitted to the New York State Bar in 2003, he became a member of the New York State Bar Association. He is also a member of the International Bar Association (IBA) and of the American Bar Association.
Additional to his law practice, he has occupied several public positions, among which are Secretary of the Presidency of the Monetary Board (at present, Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Ecuador) (1993), Director of the Main Branch Office of the Central Bank of Ecuador (1997-1998), and deputy and principal member of the Banking Board, highest body of the Superintendence of Banks. He is an arbitrator of the Arbitration and Conciliation Center of the Chamber of Commerce of Guayaquil.
He has taught Corporate Law, Banking Law and Property Law as a visitor scholar of the Universidad Católica de Guayaquil School of Law.
